Adolphus C. Thornburg, age 93, of Eaton, OH passed away Friday, April 13, 2012 at Heartland of Eaton. He was born August 26, 1918 at the family farm near Portland, IN (Jay County). He was the son of Emile and Minnie (Trehearne) Thornburg. He was a resident of Preble County for the past 60 years; he retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a machinist; he also operated a Bicycle Hobby Shop and was known to many as the “Bicycle Man”; and he formed and managed a cub scout little league. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Clayton in 1945; sister Margaret in 1998; brother Everett in 1999; and sister Virgie at the age of 102 in 2000. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jean E. (Boese) Thornburg, whom he married on Nov. 24, 1945; son Jack Thornburg of Centerville, OH; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and George Jay of Salt Lake City, Utah; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; sister Eileen Stoner of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. No public visitation. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria, OH.
