Albert E. Hume

Albert E. Hume, age 94 of Eaton, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2023. He was born August 21, 1928 in Hamilton, Ohio son of the late Albert J. and Cora (Davis) Hume. Albert was a proud United States Army Veteran who served his country during the Korean Conflict, receiving two bronze stars as well as a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Eaton American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Josephine Hume; 2 brothers; 3 sisters; and son-in-law, George Ashbrook. He is survived by his sons, Robert (Laurie) Hume of Dayton, OH and Edward (Linda) Hume of Sidney, OH; wife’s children: daughters: Courtney Ashbrook of Tucson, AZ, Rita McFarland of Sugarloaf, CA, Wilma McKee-Brown of Eaton, OH and Lynn (Ryan) Stapleton-Fugate of Portland, OR; and son Dennis (Marie) Vallery of Tucson, AZ; 14 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Barbara Brown of Sun City, CA; as well as numerous other family members and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 1:00 pm at Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH. Burial will follow at Preble Memory Gardens in West Alexandria, OH.  Memorial contributions may be sent to the VA Hospice. Online condolences and other remembrances may be sent to the family by visiting www.gardfuneralhome.com.
