TAMPLIN, Bernice L., age 94, of West Alexandria, OH. died Sat. July 13, 2013 in Eaton, OH. She was born in Brookville, OH. on Oct. 30, 1918 to James and Mary (Hangen) Simmons. She was a graduate of Philipsburg High School and later received her L.P.N. from Miami Valley Hospital and her R.N. from Sinclair College. She worked for Miami Valley Hospital for 30 plus years. Her activities include 4-H Leader for Stitch N Time, Salem Lutheran Church, Salem Women of the Church, Former Sunshine Group member, American Legion Auxiliary Gleaners Chapter #182 O.E.A, Past Worthy Matron, Studebaker Family National Assoc., Miami Valley Nursing Assoc. and other professional organizations. Along with her husband, Richard O., they spent many winters in Brownsville, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Richard O. Tamplin. She is survived by 4 children, Catherine "Kaye" Puvogel, Eaton, OH., Richard O. (Linda) Tamplin Jr., New Madison, OH., Harry (Jeanette) Tamplin, Warren, MI., Connie (John) Coffman, New Lebanon, OH. 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also deceased were her parents, a grandson, Tony Owen Tamplin, 4 brothers, Robert Simmons, Kenneth L. "Boots" Simmons, Mark Simmons, James Simmons and sisters, Margaret Weaver, Beulah Valentine and Elizabeth "Betty" Carlton. Funeral services for Mrs. Tamplin will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 19, 2013 at Salem Lutheran Church, West Alexandria, OH. with Rev. Brian Nunnally officiating. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery, Brookville, OH.
