Betty J. Barker

Betty J. Barker, age 91, of Eaton, OH passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton.  She was born June 29, 1932 in West Manchester, OH to the late Herbert and Huldah (Mt.Castle) Newman.  Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Eaton; past member of the New Paris Eastern Star; and Past President of the Preble County Chamber of Commerce.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband James Shute; second husband Robert Barker; sister Donna Goodwin; and brothers Jim Newman and Gene Newman.  She is survived by her daughters Pat (Fred) McMaken of Greenville, OH and Marcia Shute of New Paris, OH; son Jim (Sharon) Shute of West Alexandria, OH; three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; sister Ruth Goodpasture of Greenville, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am at the Gard Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Eaton, OH with Rev. Annie Melick officiating.  Burial will follow at Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris, OH.  Memorial contributions may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, 123 W.
