Billie J. Pennington, age 77, of New Paris, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Wayne Hospital in Greenville. She was born June 20, 1940 in Elliott County, KY to the late Sam and Lena (Flannery) Rowe.
Billie was former owner of the 230 Club in Eaton for 22 years; she also built and operated the New Paris Carryout. A true southern dream with a firecracker soul. She was well known as a phenomenal cook who fed the entire neighborhood. Folks came from miles around to have a "Billie Burger " at the 230 Club. Overwhelming generosity and her kindness to others are also legend. In later years, she spent many weekends cruising Cumberland Lake with family and friends. She freely shared her Kentucky home that was always filled with her contagious laughter and good times. There are too many memories to share in this brief space. All should remember her beauty that shone from the inside out. She was full of grace and strength to stand the journey. She leaves a legacy for her family to follow. Her practical wisdom will live on for generations.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sons Gregery Pennington in 1998 and Jeffrey Pennington in 2017; sisters and brothers-in-law Justine and Arnold Johnson and Betty and Lonnie Weddington; brother Robert Rowe; infant sister Doris Jean Rowe; sister-in-law Faye Rowe; and brothers-in-law Herb Green and Robert Whisman.
