Billy Darold Saunders

Billy Darold Saunders, age 75, of West Manchester, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. He was born September 16, 1943 in Sissonville, WV to the late Emmitt E. and Icie E. Saunders. Billy was a U.S. Army Veteran; loved bowling, playing cards, fishing and hunting, especially on the family property in West Virginia; he enjoyed coaching his daughter’s softball teams for many years; enjoyed bluegrass music and playing the guitar and mandolin; and was very particular and often seen combing his hair. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters Mary Hamilton, Elsie Whittington and Betty Jo Saunders; and brothers Richard Saunders, Nelson Saunders and Jimmy Saunders. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Saunders of West Manchester; daughters: Jackie Lee (Todd) Grant of New Madison, Karlene Smith of Lewisburg and Betty Joe (Ron) Battista of Eaton; grandchildren: Jessica O’Neal, Garrett (Kat) O’Neal, Tyler Grant, Ashly Grant, Zachary DeVilbiss, Jenna DeVilbiss, Monika Smith, Brooklyn Smith, Raun (Josh) Hampton and Andrew Battista; great grandchildren: Cread Chapplear, Rayven DeVilbiss, Donovan DeVilbiss, Bryson McAdams, Boston Hampton and Baylor Hampton; sisters Lena Knipp and Sue McClanahan; brothers Kenny Saunders, Bobby Saunders, Charles Saunders and Kermit Saunders; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 4:00 pm until time of funeral service at 7:00 pm at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton.
