Boyd A. Bowman

Boyd A. Bowman, age 88, of West Alexandria, OH passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH.  He was born December 10, 1934 to the late Cecil Bowman and Earsie (Flinchum) MacElwee in Camden, OH.  Boyd was U.S Air Force Veteran that served during the Korean War; and was a member of the James Ryan American Legion Post in West Alexandria.  He retired as a Postmaster from the USPS in West Alexandria.  He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Anita Volk; grandson and his wife Patrick and Jamie Volk; brother Douglas Bowman; and sister Mable Bindewald.  He is survived by his wife 65 years, Phyllis Bowman of West Alexandria; sons Roy (Rachel) Bowman of West Alexandria and Dean Bowman of Dayton; daughter Gail (Dan) Benis of Union; four grandchildren Andrew Bowman, Eric Bowman, Joshua Benis and Nicole Benis; great grandchildren Jai and Curtis Volk; sister Alberta Deaton; and several nieces and nephews.  A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.  Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services (formerly Lindloff-Zimmerman), West Alexandria is assisting with arrangements.   Online condolences and other remembrances may be sent to the family by visiting www.gardfuneralhome.com.
