C. Eugene "Gene" Ewing

C. Eugene Gene Ewing, age 92, of Eaton, OH passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. He was born April 7, 1922 in Eaton to the late Alice Sheffer Ewing and Clifford Frank Ewing. Gene was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served during WWII; he was a longtime member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Eaton, OH where he served as usher for many years; was a member of the Eaton Lions Club; was a volunteer firefighter for many years with the City of Eaton; he worked at Wilson Hardware Store in Eaton for over 50 years; he also until recently worked for Kramer and Kramer Auctioneers; and he was a volunteer for the Preble County Historical Society where he served as a township representative. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Mary K. Ewing, who passed away on November 3, 1984; son James T. Ewing; grandson Dr. Gregory James Ewing; and sisters Marian Kramer and Grace Alice Dimple Shock and brother-in-law Dick Shock. He is survived by his son Richard E. (Jutta) Ewing of Eaton, OH; daughter-in-law Bonnie (Bill) Price of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren Adam Ewing of Centerville, OH, Sara (Brad) Pant of Miamisburg, OH, Debi (Joel) Fieri of Oceanside, CA, Jeremy Ewing of Denver, CO and Amy (Rhett) Runella of Cincinnati, OH; great grandchildren Jacob Ewing, Elizabeth Ewing, Jack Runella and Isabelle Runella; brother-in-law Horace JR Kramer; close friend Pauline McCarty of Eaton, OH; and numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 10:00 am until time of funeral services at 12:00 noon at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, 120 North Maple Street, Eaton, OH with Pastor Chris Farmer officiating and military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery, Eaton, OH. Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, OH is assisting the family with arrangements.
