David E. Artz, age 85, of West Alexandria, OH passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at Grandview Medical Center in Dayton. He was born September 6, 1935 to the late Bernard and Roberta Artz. He was a U.S. Army Veteran; he retired from General Motors in Dayton; and he was an avid Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes Football and University of Dayton Flyers Basketball fan. He was also known for bowling a “300” left handed and hitting a hole-in-one right handed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons Brian Artz and Bradley Artz; brother Norman Artz; and sister Rhodora Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wilma L. Artz of West Alexandria; daughter Kim (Kevin) Monroe of West Alexandria; grandchildren: Bryant Artz, Jonathan Artz, Jill Artz, Matthew Monroe, Krystin Monroe and Amanda (Caleb) Sandifer; great grandchildren: McKenna Artz, Jaxson Artz and Benjamin Sandifer; brothers Donald Artz and Dan (Paula) Artz; sisters Virginia (Larry) Wright; daughter-in-law Tonya Artz; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 11:00 am until time of funeral service at 1:00 pm at the Pyrmont Church of God, 4690 N. Sulphur Springs Rd, Brookville, OH 45309 with Pastor John Monroe officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in West Alexandria with Military Honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard and U.S. Army.
