David Charles Williams
David C. Williams, formerly of Preble and Butler Counties, died peacefully in his sleep Thursday, June 28, 2012, at his home near Liberty, Indiana. He was 94 years old. David was born near Fairhaven, Ohio, to Charles L. and Mabel Evans Williams on June 15, 1918, the second of five children. He graduated from McGuffey High School in Oxford, Ohio, and attended Ohio State University. David was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps as a pilot, fligh tinstructor, and airplane mechanic. He retired as a Major from the United States Air Force Reserves after 37 years of service. A lifelong farmer, David also retired as Post Master of West Alexandria, Ohio, in 1978. He was an avid collector of antiques, and rarely missed an estate auction where his reputation was highly regarded for his expertise and knowledge of antiques. David was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in West Alexandria, where he served for eight years as Sunday School Superintendent. Most recently, he attended the Historic Hopewell Church near Oxford, Ohio. David was preceded in death by his daughter, Rosemary, in 1966; his first wife and mother of his children, Barbara Miller Williams, in 1983; and his second wife, Alice Krauth Williams, in 2010. David is survived by his daughter, Diana, and her husband, Mark Runyon, who have made their home with him the past two years; his grandson, Ryan, and his wife, Lashawnda Runyon, of Englewood, Ohio; his grandson, Adam Runyon, of Union, Ohio; his great grandson, Payton Runyon, of Englewood, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to Natalie, Ryann, Nicole, and Tara of Advancing Simplicity, Richmond, Indiana, for the wonderful, loving care they have given David for the past year. The family would also like to thank Reid Hospice, Richmond, Indiana, and staff for their help and guidance in David's care, especially Marge and Virginia. No funeral services are planned at this time. Arrangements are being made by Lindloff- Zimmerman Funeral Home in West Alexandria, Ohio. David will be buried at Fairview Cemetery in West Alexandria, Ohio. The family wishes that any memorial donations in David's name be made to the Hospice of your choice; Help the Animals of Richmond, Indiana; Salem Lutheran Church of West Alexandria, Ohio; or Hopewell Church of Oxford, Ohio.
