Debra Kay Chasteen, age 50, of Eaton, Ohio, passed away in her home on April 21, 2023.
Deb was known for her beautiful singing voice and love of music. She pursued a degree in musical theater but settled for a career as an administrative assistant, most notably with the Preble County Commissioners Office.
She was a freethinking, intelligent, and outspoken gal who was always up for a good debate. She was a voracious reader chock-full of knowledge and the very model of an amateur grammarian.
Deb saw beauty where others could not and found joy in even the smallest of tasks. She was kind, thoughtful, and generous to a fault.
Deb left an indelible mark on the world and will be sorely missed by those fortunate enough to have met her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn H. Chasteen, Sr.; Her Poppy, Ronnie Myers; and her brothers Glenn H. Chasteen, Jr. and Shane Chasteen.
She is survived by her mother, Nokie Myers; children Caleb Nelson, Silas Nelson, and Benny Brock; grandson, Owen Nelson; brothers William D. (Jeanie) Chasteen II and Jimmy J. Chasteen; two sisters, Joyce (Mark) Miller and Lori Joe (Donnie) Layton; and twin sister Mary (Jay) Lakes; dear friend, Angela Michael; many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. at Gard Funeral Home (113 S Ada Doty Street in Gratis, Ohio) with a service following immediately after. She will be laid to rest in a private burial for close friends and family at the Fairview Cemetery in Gratis, Ohio.
