Donald R. Crowell, age 90, of Eaton, OH passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at his home after an extended illness. He was born September 3, 1922 in Eaton to the late Homer and Elsie (Pitsinger) Crowell. Don was a WWII Coast Guard Veteran who served on the USS Beaufort from 1942 to 1945. Stationed in New York Watertenders School where he met his wife of 68 years Constance (Fischer) Crowell. Don was a graduate of Eaton High School and Kansas City Missouri Plumbing School. He worked at Delco, Hodson Plumbing Co., Ray Latta Plumbing Co. Huffman-Wolfe and Denlinger Plumbing all in Dayton before moving back to Eaton to begin his own plumbing business in 1951. Upon retiring in 1988 he turned Crowell Plumbing over to his son, Douglas. He was also a Volunteer Firefighter for the City of Eaton for 21 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Forrest Crowell and Glen L. Crowell; and sister Marjorie Kinder. He is survived by his wife Constance; daughters Donna Elliott and Deborah Tucker and his son Douglas (Connie) Crowell all of Eaton, OH; special son/nephew John (Grace) Dille of Old Bridge, NJ. Also survived by 4 grandchildren, Valerie (Dwight) Smith of West Manchester, OH, Leann (Derek) Frazier of Eaton, Ryan (Tiffany) Elliott of Eaton and Abby Crowell who’s attending OSU in Columbus, OH; 3 great grandchildren Bethany and Michaela Smith and Ava Elliott; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Eaton Church of the Brethren, 813 Camden Road, Eaton, OH 45320 with Pastor Martin Peacock officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton. Friends will be received from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
