Donald E. Wigger, Sr., age 87, of West Manchester, OH passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012. He was born February 28, 1924 in Eaton, OH to the late William and Clara Mae (Bender) Wigger. He was a U.S. Army Veteran; a longtime member of Wares Chapel United Methodist Church, West Manchester, OH; member of the Preble’s Little Turtles Camping Club; former Cub Master of Cub Scouts Pack #280, West Manchester, OH and actively involved with scouting for over 50 years; recipient of the Silver Beaver Award in Scouting; recipient of the Torch Award United Methodist Scouting, along with numerous other scouting awards and day camp leader. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Mary Helen Wigger, who passed away May 1, 2006; daughter Billie Sue Reed; granddaughter Christina Wigger; brothers Robert Wigger and Fred Wigger; sisters Mary Alice Wigger and Margaret Huffman; and brother-in-laws Myron E. Chambers and Marion Schweizer. He is survived by his daughter Donna J. (Ken) Galdeen of Middletown, OH; 4 sons Virgil E. “Bud” (Pat) Wigger of Kansas City, MO, Donald E. “Sparky” (Betsy) Wigger, Jr. of Englewood, OH, William Dean (Joanell Phillips) Wigger of West Manchester, OH and Joseph Edward (Julie Neaveill) Wigger of Eldorado, OH; 20 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister-in-laws Jane Chambers of West Manchester, OH and Martha Jane Schweizer of Richmond, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Wares Chapel United Methodist Church, 1060 Foos Road, West Manchester, OH with Pastor Ty Williams officiating. Burial will be in Wares Chapel Cemetery, West Manchester, OH. Friends will be received from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be sent to Wares Chapel United Methodist Church or Cub Scout Troop #280, West Manchester, OH (both using the church address) or Hospice of Reid Hospital, 1100 Reid Parkway, Richmond, IN 47374.
