Donald Roy Wilson, Sr.

Donald Roy Wilson Sr. of Gratis, Ohio passed from this earth and entered into that great kingdom whose builder and maker is God on Monday, January 3, 2022, with his family by his side. He was born in Middletown, Ohio, on June 15th, 1956, to Wendell and Joyce Wilson. Don graduated from Preble Shawnee High School in 1974 as the best-looking man in Arrow history. Upon graduation, he dedicated the next three years of his life in service to this country as a soldier in the U.S. Army. Shortly after, he began his 40 years of service with Texas Eastern Transmission where he retired as a station specialist. Don was a father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. His greatest joy in the earth was to be papaw to his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Wendell and Joyce Wilson. He will be greatly missed by his children, Donnie Wilson Jr, Matthew (Jessica) Wilson; sisters, Shirley (Bob) Howell, Vicki (Tim) Smallwood; brother, Mike Wilson; grandchildren; Dylan, Kaylan, Grace, Hunter, Roy, Jude, Ezra, Theodore and Eve; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. At age 65, Don left suddenly but we rest in the promise of a blessed reunion soon and very soon. Paul the Apostle writes to Corinth these words, “For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” Don has traded his earthly tent for an eternal home with a wonder that mortal eyes have not seen, nor ear heard, and someday soon, we will too. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am at Gard Funeral Home (formerly Lindloff-Zimmerman), 113 Ada Doty Street, Gratis, OH. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Gratis. In lieu of cut flowers, live plant arrangements are encouraged.
