Doris Jean Filbrun

Doris Jean (Fisher) Filbrun of West Alexandria, was born on August 8, 1936, near Covington Ohio, to James and Helen (Rapp) Fisher. The LORD called her home on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 in Eaton Ohio. She was a 1954 graduate of Covington High School. Upon finishing High School, she worked in the office of Gummed Products, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Feeling the call of the Spirit she was baptized on July 7, 1956 by Uncle Lester Fisher, into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, at Covington Ohio. She was united in marriage to Dennis A. Filbrun, on September 9, 1956, by Uncle Med Fisher. They enjoyed 66 years together, until Daddy was unexpectedly called home on December 9, 2022. This union was blessed with two sons and two daughters. Daddy and Mother started housekeeping in Findley Ohio, where he was fulfilling his C.O. work. Upon completion they moved to the farm in Preble County. She faithfully labored along with her companion, when they were called to the deacon’s office in 1973. Mother spent many hours harvesting and putting up the produce from their garden, she also enjoyed raising flowers. As children, we have many memories of family vacations and our mother reading to us. That blessing was extended to the grandchildren, and then to the great grandchildren. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren and great grandchildren out for the day, for special birthdays. Her family meant a lot to her.  We remember her cheerful singing, whistling and the times we went to visit the elderly.  Mother spent the last weeks of her life in a rehab facility.  The care givers enjoyed her dry sense of humor and said that she never failed to make them smile.  She was preparing to return home but God called her to a better home. It meant a lot to mother, that with the exception of the time spent in Findley, she has lived within walking distance of the church districts she has resided in. She is survived by her children, Deanne and Thomas Hollinger, Dale and Evelyn Filbrun, Doug and Pamela Filbrun and Doreen and Larry Landes. Grandchildren Tyler Hollinger, Mandi Hollinger, Lindsey and Trevyn Wolf, Daren and Holly Filbrun, Debra and Wesley Sprinkel, Kari Filbrun, Kenton and Michelle Filbrun, Stacy and Nathan Bauman, Seth and Alex Filbrun, Kendra and Jason Stamy, Kyle and Julieann Filbrun, Kip and Xara Filbrun, Kelli and Jeremy Cable, Kraig Filbrun, Kaid Filbrun, Jeremy and Susan Landes, Jena and Matt Miller, Benjamin Landes, Brant and Annetta Landes, Laban Landes, Leanna Landes, Malena Landes, Melany Landes, Alisha Landes and 32 great grandchildren. Her sisters Elaine and Larry Hufford, and Linda and Dale Bowman. Brothers in law and sister in-law Marvin Filbrun, Melvin Filbrun, and Glen and Karen Filbrun. She was proceeded in death by her parents; an infant grandson, Keith Filbrun; parents-in-law, H. Raymond and Mary (Aukerman) Filbrun, stepmother Violet (Woodbridge) Angle Fisher. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lowell and Berniece Yost, Jeanette Filbrun, Mary Filbrun, and Ron and Vanice Flora.  We are left with many precious memories, as we await the glorious resurrection day.  Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.gardfuneralhome.com.
