Dorothy Brashears

BRASHEARS, Dorothy Jean, age 82 of Gratis, OH. died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017 in Gratis.  She was born in Breathitt County, KY. on Dec. 8, 1934 to Clinton and Laura (Gabbard) Childers.  She is survived by 5 children, Denise (Raymond) Reynolds, Gratis, OH., Linda (Barry) Wilson, Middletown, OH., William “Billy” (Julie) Brashears and Karen Brashears, all of Gratis, OH. and Jeff (Alice Lynn) Brashears, Vinton County, OH., 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Cecil (Sondra) Childers,  Wendell (Bertha) Childers, Ronnie Childers, 2 sisters, Margaret Childers, Carol (Jerry) Hurt, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Gene Brashears, son, Johnny Lee Brashears, her parents, 4 brothers, Hurley, Joel, Ishmael, Marvin and 2 sisters, Betty Watkins and Thelma Deaton.  Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.  She loved her family more than anything in the world, her home was always open and she welcomed you with open arms and listening ears.  She loved vacationing at the beach with her family. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Friday, Oct. 27, 2017 at Beechwood Church of God with Rev. Gary Agee officiating.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Gratis, OH.  Friends may call at the Beechwood church on Thurs. from 5-7PM.
