Edith Marie Thompson, age 93, passed away Sunday morning, February 26th, 2012 at Van Crest in Eaton, Ohio.Edith was born June 8th, 1918 in Franklin Ohio to Chester and Nola Grove Hammer and was raised in Fairhaven by her mother and stepfather, Orla Ramsey. She graduated from Dixon High School in 1936 and Miami University in 1940 with a degree in Music Education. She married Dixon graduate Norman E. Thompson on March 5th, 1947. Norman passed away September 4th, 1984. In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Barton. Edith was a member of Prices Creek Church of the Brethren for almost 60 years and sewed quilts every week with Ladies Aid. She was a gentle and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Edith M. Thompson is survived by her daughter Janet (Dennis) Wilson of Eldorado, and her son David (Mary Ellen) Thompson of West Manchester, grandchildren Louis (Cortney) Thompson of Brookville, Oh, Ben (Stacey) Thompson of Eaton, Tristan Wilson and Brittany Wilson of Eldorado, as well as great-grandchildren, Hannah Thompson and Conner Thompson of Eaton, Kalissa Thompson and Kade Thompson of Brookville, and Makenzie Wilson of Eldorado. Funeral service for Edith Thompson will be held at 11:00 am at Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home in Eaton on Thursday March 1st, 2012 with Pastor Don King officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8pm on Wednesday February 29th at the funeral home.
