Eric R. Sorrell

Eric R. Sorrell, age 60, of Eaton, OH passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife of 26 years, Sara (Duffie) and his children, Alysa, Claire, and Brady on Friday, September 27, 2024. He was born on August 31, 1964 to Riley Sorrell and the late Linda Sorrell. Eric was a 1982 graduate of Eaton High School and went on the attend The Ohio State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and a Master’s Degree in Swine Nutrition. While attending OSU, Eric became a member of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Fraternity and was a member of the Collegiate Livestock judging team. After college, Eric worked for several agricultural businesses applying his nutrition background feeding multiple types of livestock. He was employed by Wayne Feeds, Hubbard Feeds, and Cargill. 

Eric’s hobbies included Ohio State Football, playing and coaching softball and wrestling, evaluating livestock, and raising show pigs. Eric bred, raised, and sold show pigs for 20+ years. The time spent in the barn, on the field, and on the mat with his family was his greatest joy. 

In addition to his father, wife, and children, he is survived by his brothers, Scott, Rex, and Aaron Sorrell, as well as his sisters Brenda Miller and Trudy Kendal. Eric was blessed with several in -laws, nephews, nieces. Eric is also survived by his father and mother- in -law, Ed and Anna Lee Duffie, who were his devoted caregivers. 

Visitation with be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH. Funeral service for Eric will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 4, 2024 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Camden.
