Ernest C. Venable

Ernest C. Venable, age 88, of Eaton, OH, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH. He was born February 10, 1927 in Pebworth, KY to the late James Matt and Verlie (Reynolds) Venable. Ernest was a U.S. Army Veteran who served at sea during WWII in the Army Transportation Corp.; he was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1970; was listed in the Whos Who In Executives and Professionals in the 2001-2002 edition; was a member of the King Hiram Masonic Lodge, West Alexandria, OH; was a member of the Eaton Farm Bureau; was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church, Eaton, OH; and he retired after 33 years of employment as a Field/Area Engineer from the General Electric Company. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers William Lee Venable and R.B. Venable. He is survived by his wife, Martha A. Venable, whom he married on October 18, 1947; sons Larry Ernest (Angie) Venable of Eaton, OH, Edwin Michael (Sandra K.) Venable of Eaton, OH and Dennis Lee (Cynthia) Venable of Marion, NY; granddaughter Angela Beth Seman; grandsons Matt, Robert, Cory, Derek, Kevin, Andrew and Daniel Venable; great granddaughters Samantha, Heidi and Adriana; great grandsons Ryan, Preston, Maguire and Hudson; sisters Mavis (Lowell) Seale of Maryville, TN and Vivian (David) Fox of Nicholasville, KY; brother James M. Venable of Oxford, OH; sister-in-law Opal Venable of Winchester, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH with Pastor Jack Moore officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 from 11:00 am until time of funeral services at 12:00 noon at the Booneville Funeral Home in Booneville, KY.
