Fern Leota Brooks

Fern Leota Brooks of West Manchester, OH and formerly of Ottawa, KS was born August 6, 1930 to the late Floyd and Lottie (Gish) Barton.  She peacefully passed from this life to eternity on October 4, 2022 at the age of 92 years.  She was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church on Sunday, June 15, 1947, to which she remained faithful until death.  On September 16, 1955, she was united in marriage with Owen Henry Brooks, sharing this life together for over 52 years until dad’s passing on July 8, 2008.  They were blessed with 5 children.  Fern asked for and received the anointing on February 9, 2020 from which she received much comfort.  She is survived by her 5 children: Beverly (Wendel) Crist of Overbrook, KS, Dan (Chris) Brooks of Overbrook, KS, Doug (Virginia) Brooks of Anderson, IN, Brad (Cindy) Brooks of Rocky Mount, VA and Sue (Gary) Williamson of West Manchester, OH; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brother Merlin (Eva) Barton; sister Nina Flora; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Preceding in her death are her parents; husband Owen; one granddaughter-in-law; and several brothers and sisters.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Gard Funeral Home, 226 W. Main Street, Eaton, OH.   Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Eight Mile Old German Baptist Brethren Church near Centropolis, KS.  Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the Eight Mile Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Burial will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery also near Centropolis, KS.  Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, OH and Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home in Ottawa, KS are assisting the family with arrangements.
