Kenneth E. Gene Harsh, age 88, of Eaton, OH, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN. He was born March 23, 1926 in Richmond to the late Mack C. and Bernice (McKissick) Harsh. Gene was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during WWII; he was a Preble County farmer all of his life; he was a Jackson County Trustee for 39 years; he was a school bus driver for 16 years for both Jackson School and National Trail School system; he served on the ASC committee for 15 years; was a member of the jail committee; a member of the Historical Society; member of the Farm Bureau Council; and volunteered for many years at the Pork Festival. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, whom he married in 1949, Agnes L. Harsh of Eaton, OH; sons Donald (Valena) Harsh of Osteen, FL and Jerry (Lottie) Harsh of Camden, OH; daughter Janet Harsh and fiancé Tim Hale of Eaton, OH; grandchildren Heather Buschor and Jerry (Carrie) Harsh both of Kettering, OH; great grandchildren Jacob Buschor, Caleb Harsh and Conner Harsh; step grandson Taylor White; sister Maxine Rodefer of New Hope, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 11:00 am until time of funeral services at 1:00 pm at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH. Burial will follow at Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris, OH. Memorial contributions may be sent to the charity of donors choice.
