Gladys L. Straszheim, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, May 16th at the Greenbriar Nursing Center where she had been a resident since 2004. Born August 31, 1914 to Jessie and Bess Riegel near New Lebanon, OH, she lived in Preble County all her life, most of that time in Eaton, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herman H. Straszheim in 1993; sister Thelma Walker in 2008; and son Gene in 2009. Gladys and Herman were lifelong members of Salem Lutheran Church in West Alexandria, OH. Survivors include son Jerry (wife Conni) of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter-in-law Mary of New Madison, OH; grandchildren: Mark (wife Katie) of N. Muskegon, MI, Kay (husband James) Stephan of New Madison, OH, Joni (husband Rick) Moore of Conover, NC, Joel (wife Nancy) of Boca Raton, FL and Jeffrey (wife Bridget) of Dorchester, MA. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her main interest in life was her family and friends, music and reading. Friends will be received from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, State Route 503 South, West Alexandria, OH.
