Glen Byrd, Jr., age 66, of West Alexandria, OH passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at the Kettering Medical Center in Kettering, OH. He was born June 30, 1957 in Buck Creek, KY to the late Glen, Sr. and Mabel Byrd. He was a 1975 graduate of Twin Valley High School, joined the U.S. Army in 1981 and served his country for 4 years. After his service he earned his Bachelor's Degree and Master’s Degree in Education both from Wright State University. He taught at various schools including Greenville, Kettering and Preble County Schools. Following his teaching career he became a local contractor building several local homes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters and a brother. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sheryl Byrd of West Alexandria; sons Christopher (Tonya) Woods, Thomas (Chelsea) Byrd and Stephen (Amanda) Byrd all of West Alexandria; grandchildren Jesse (Mikelea) Woods, Logan Woods (fiance’ Macy), Brantley Byrd, Aubrey Byrd, Emmett Byrd, Waylon Byrd and Jetson Byrd; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 4:00 pm until time of memorial service at 6:00 pm at the Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 67 W. Dayton Street, West Alexandria, OH.
