Gordon Silvers, age 82, of Eaton, OH passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 18, 2012. He was born March 15, 1929 in Preble County, OH to the late Ottowell H. and Clara I. (Rumley) Silvers. He was a 1947 graduate of Eaton High School; a U.S. Air Force Veteran who served during the Korean War; a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church; was a former coach and board member of the Eaton Little League for over 25 years; was employed in the Electronic of Division of N.C.R. for 37 years followed by employment as the Superintendent of the Eaton Country Club for 25 years; was a member of the National Greens Keepers Association and the Miami Valley Greens Keepers Association; he was an Honorary Member and Past President of the Eaton Country Club; was a former board member on the City of Eaton Recreation Department; and was a current member of the Eaton High School Athletic Hall of Fame Board. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother Roy Silvers; sisters Maxine Holmes and Thelma Rautsaw; and infant granddaughter Jennifer Silvers. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eleanor Silvers of Eaton, OH; son Mark (Nan) Silvers of Eaton, OH; daughter Nancy Silvers of Columbus, OH; son Steve (Deb) Silvers of Powell, OH; grandchildren Angie (Mike) Soloman of Denver, CO, Beth (Josh) Thompson of Louisville, KY, Tim Silvers of Eaton, OH; and Erik and Evan Silvers of Powell, OH; sister Irene Shinn of Grass Valley, CA; and brothers-in-law William Campbell, Lee Campbell and Ned Rautsaw, all of Eaton, OH. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, OH. Burial will be in Mound Hill Cemetery, Eaton, OH. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the funeral home.
