Gregory T. Schamaun DO, age 62, passed away Monday, January 16, 2012 at Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart, Florida. He was born October 1, 1949 in Eaton, Ohio to Patricia Rae (Painter) Schamaun and the late Thomas Everet Schamaun. Dr. Schamaun was a resident of Eaton, as well as a resident of Mancos, Colorado and Hobe Sound, Florida and former resident of Greenville, Ohio. He was a graduate of Indiana University and Chicago School of Osteopathic Medicine. He was an ophthalmologist and eye surgeon with his own practice in Greenville, and Eaton, Ohio for twenty-five years. Dr. Schamaun was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Greenville, Ohio; was a private pilot, avid golfer, but was happiest when in the mountains skiing or hiking with his family. He also gained a license in medical acupuncture for ophthalmology. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Patricia of Eaton, Ohio and Hobe Sound, Florida; mother, Patricia Rae Schamaun of Leesburg, Florida; son, Abraham Schamaun of Muncie, Indiana; daughter, Annie Marie Schamaun (Matthew Harris) of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Abigail Schamaun of New York City, New York; daughter, Allison Schamaun of Louisville, Kentucky; step-son, Andrew Morris (Molly) of Silverton, Colorado; step-daughter, Molly VanMor (Christy) of Dayton, Ohio; brother, Rod Schamaun (Sharon) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and two sisters, Linda Schamaun Gregg of Wyoming, and Nannette Suhar (Mike) of Leesburg, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 P.M. on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, OH. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Eye Clinic at Grandview Hospital, 405 W.
