BAYES, Harold, age 96 of Gratis, OH. passed away, Thurs. Jan. 3, 2019 in Oxford. He was born in Oil Springs, KY. on July 4, 1922 to Charles and Charlotte (Vencil) Bayes. Harold was a WWII Navy veteran. He worked at General Motors for many years and retired in 1976. He was a member of Gratis United Methodist Church and a member of the Odd Fellows I.O.O.F. Eden Lodge #147 Lodge in Gratis, F.O.E., Aerie/Auxdillary #4289 in Gratis and International Union of Electrical Workers. He loved to be with his family, was an avid fan of Kentucky Basketball, and going to horse races. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, neighbor and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Louise Bayes in 2009. He was a devoted father of two daughters, Charlotte (Mike) Akers and Teresa (Kleetis) McGhee, all of Eaton, OH., 5 grandchildren, Wes Akers, Anna (Bryan) Wackler, Kyle Akers, Linsey (Kiser) Buehner and Kelly(Adam) McGhee-Hughes, and 3 great grandchildren, Riley Buehner, Evelyn Wackler, and Blake Wackler. Also deceased were his siblings, Ted Bayes, Geneva Williams, Herschel Bayes, and Wendell Bayes. The family would like to give a special thanks to friends, Randy Kemper and Sheila Adkins and Dr. James Thomson. Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Tues. Jan. 8, 2019 at Gratis United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Wood officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Gratis, OH.
