Harold E. Beckett, age 73, of Eaton, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Southview Hospital in Dayton. He was born February 21, 1945 in Dayton to the late William Harold and Ruth Irma (Shutts) Beckett. Harold was a 1963 graduate of Monroe High School; graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Clark Technical School; was a past member of the Ohio National Guard, 1483rd Transportation Unit in Eaton and a member of the American Legion Post #665, West Manchester; was a former volunteer firefighter for the West Manchester Fire Department for many years; was former owner and operator of Beckett Elevator in West Manchester for 25 years, followed by 25 years of employment at Zumstein Trucking in Lewisburg; he previously worked part time for Eaton Community Schools Transportation; and most recently was a driver for Preble County Council on Aging; and he attended the First Southern Baptist Church in Camden. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Carole Beckett; sister and brother-in-law Janet and Vernon Allen; and brother-in-law Paul Ray. He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Sandra M. Beckett of Eaton; sons: H. Scott (Denise Reier) Beckett of Hamilton and David L. (Patricia) Beckett of Eaton; grandchildren: Brandon (Sarah) Cooper of Trenton; Shannon (James) Briede of Beavercreek, Kearston Beckett of Cincinnati, David Beckett, Jr. of Eaton and Natalie Beckett of Eaton; great grandchildren: Connor and Kate Cooper of Trenton and Jackson and Grayson Briede of Beavercreek; sister Linda Ray of Eaton ; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 10:00 am until time of memorial service at 12:00 noon at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH with Pastor Greg Jackson officiating.
