Hazel Elizabeth Spitler Schlotterbeck, age 101, of Eaton, Ohio passed away December 30, 2018 at The Springs in Richmond. She lived in Ottoville, Ohio for many years prior to moving to Eaton. She was born on August 9, 1917 in Darke County, Ohio to Theodore and Iota Eikenbery. She Graduated from Monroe High School in 1935. She was employed at Aluminum Seal in Richmond and at Harry Bussard’s Ice Cream Store in Eldorado in the early 1940’s. She loved playing bingo, working crossword puzzles, reading books, bowling, and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. She leaves four children to cherish her memory: Jan (Sharon) Spitler of Eaton, Ohio, Sheri (Rob Myer) Schlotterbeck of Lakeside, California, Paul “PJ” (Gayle) Schlotterbeck of Priest River, Idaho and Joe (Margo) Schlotterbeck of Delphos, Ohio. She leaves thirteen grandchildren: Michael Spitler and Michelle Shafer of Eaton, Rhonda Peterson of Hamler, Ohio, Bethany Kerling, Meredith Johns, Kirk Schlotterbeck and Luke Schlotterbeck all of California, Steven Schlotterbeck and Stacy Hopkins of Idaho, Jessie Chen of New Jersey, Ted Schlotterbeck of Baltimore, Maryland, and Krystal Catino and Sean Hess of Virginia. She is also survived by twenty-eight great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry Schlotterbeck; brothers Harold “Dutch” Eikenbery, Dorsey Eikenbery; and beloved sister Weltha Kisling. A private graveside memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg, Ohio.
