Homer Brady Campbell
A beloved dad, loving stepfather, father-in-law, son, brother, uncle (Bud), grandpa and papaw passed away January 24, 2025 at the age of 88 in Eaton, Ohio. He was born July 20, 1936 in Logan, West Virginia. Between the years of 1953 and 1957 he served for the US Navy during the Korean War. He joked he was in the Navy even though he couldn’t swim.
Campbell spent his career working in the grocery industry in Ohio until his retirement from the Kroger Company in 1995. He was an incredibly hard worker and a very proud Teamster. In 1998, he retired to Bradenton, Florida to chase fish and sunsets. While living there, he was President of the Mirror Lake Condominium Association where he also acted as Maintenance Supervisor. Helping to house families and students visiting the prestigious IMG Academy also brought him much joy during his retirement. He has lived most recently with his daughter and son-in-law in Eaton, Ohio.
Homer was an avid reader and was always happy to have a visitor. Legend has it he had read every western story ever written. Helping others brought him incredibly humble joy. So many people were touched by his kindness and easy-going nature. Without even a question, he would offer you the shirt off of his back. Homer was also an incredible animal ally. He nurtured many cats and dogs in his lifetime, even up to the day of his passing. His gentle, loving kindness was comforting to so many.
Homer Brady Campbell, was a true 'one of a kind' and he has left a hole that just cannot be filled.
Most importantly, he knew the Lord. "There is coming a day. When no heartaches shall come. No more clouds in the sky. No more tears to dim the eye. All is peace forevermore. On that happy golden shore. What a day, glorious day that will be".
A memorial service will be announced at a later. If you wish and in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to: Preble County Humane Society, PO Box 72, Eaton, Oh 45320
