Hugh Sauer

SAUER, Hugh C., age 96, formerly of West Alexandria, OH. died Monday, Sept. 17, 2012 in Eaton.  He was born in West Alexandria on Nov. 30, 1915 to Irvin and Lucy (Pontius) Sauer.  He was a graduate of West Alexandria High School, Ohio State University and Miami University. He was in the Ohio State University Marching Band. He started his education career at Lewisburg-Union High School as a music and biology Teacher. After serving in the Army in WWII he taught music at Northridge High School and later became Superintendant. In 2002 he was inducted into the Northridge Hall of Fame.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Sauer in 2004.  He is survived by daughter, Victoria Douglass, and her life partner, Terry Alan Wade, and son, Douglass Sauer, 2 grandchildren, Nikole (Brian) MacDonald and Jereme (Andrea) Koons, great grandchildren, Madeline & Jackson, Ashlynn & Tyler,  his special friend, Evelyn Alder, nieces and nephews, Timothy (Carol) Sauer, sons, Brian and Scott, Cathy (John) Benavides, and Emily, Charles (Caroline) Sauer and Elizabeth and Lucy Sauer, and Hannah stepson, Ted (Karen) and their children, David and Carlyn and stepdaughter, Kitty Paladino and her children, Alicia and Sam, and mother of Victoria and Douglass, June Sauer.  He was preceded in death by  his parents, 2 brothers Ray Sauer, Herbert Sauer and niece, Emily Scott. Memorial service will be held  2:30 P.M. Fri. Sept. 21, 2012 at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, OH.with Dr. Cindy Hyer Feltz officiating.
