Jack A. Cooper, age 84, of Gratis, OH passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the Soin Medical Center when the gate to Heaven opened and he entered to be with his daughter. It was very hard to let him go, but now he isn't in pain anymore. He was the rock of our Family, the best husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the nicest man ever, never met a stranger and always put others before himself. We Love You! He was born October 24, 1936 in Gratis to the late Stanley and Ruby Cooper. He was the former Mayor of Gratis; was the owner and operator of Eaton Concrete for many years; was a member of the Gratis Eagles Lodge #4289; and was a former Gratis volunteer firefighter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl Fudge in 2006. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy H. “Rickey” Cooper of Gratis; daughters Terri (Marty) Lewis of Farmersville and Shelly (Bert) VanFleet of Centerville, IN; grandchildren Dustin Strayer, Stacey Strayer, Derek Brown, Mandy Brown, Jennifer Fudge, Michael Fudge, Cody VanFleet and Tyler VanFleet; great grandchildren Kayden and Bub; sisters Phyllis Monroe of Eaton and Delores Duncil of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 11:00 am until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon at the Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 113 South Ada Doty Street, Gratis, OH. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Gratis. Memorial contributions may be sent to Gratis Township Rescue Association, PO Box 671, Gratis, OH 45330.
