Jack H. Smith, age 102, of Eaton, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Greenbriar Nursing Center, Eaton, OH. Born on May 30, 1910, in Loretto, KY, he was the son of the late James C. & Alma (Sympson) Smith. Jack worked for 33 years at Kurz-Kasch in Dayton and also farmed for 32 years, stopping only to continue raising a one acre garden for the benefit of his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Etta Brooks, Nora Hardin, Lula Floyd and Mabel Pence; his brothers Jesse, James Jr., and Reuben Smith; daughter, Juanita Schmidt; grandsons, Stanley Schmidt and Robert A. Smith; and great-grandson Aaron M. Gadd. Surviors include his wife of 69 years, Dollene E. (Parks) Smith; sons Herbe J. (Bessie) Smith of Kettering, Robert J. (Wanda) Smith of New Paris, Carl E. (Judy) Smith of Fort Pierce, Florida, Art (Phyllis) Smith, Glen C. (Joy) Smith, and Keith L. (Vicki) Smith all of Eaton; daughters, Betty J. (Don Buell) Sisco of Camden, Ruby B. (Kenneth) Lipscomb and Gail Taylor of Eaton; 22 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 29 great-great grandchildren; brother Earl Smith and sisters Nellie Fudge and Ruth Williams all of Eaton. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 22, at 1:30 p.m. at the New Hope United Methodist Church, corner of Upshur Northern Road and U.S 35 West, Eaton, OH. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery, Eaton. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, January 21st, from 4 - 8 p.m. at Girton Schmidt Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH.
