James R. “Jim” Whittaker, age 87, of Greenville, OH and formerly of Eaton, OH passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the Hospice Care Center at Wayne Hospital in Greenville, OH. He was born on July 3, 1936 in Greenville to the late James Russell and Iva Pearl Whittaker. Jim worked and retired from D.P.&L. Eaton location; he enjoyed being outdoors; was an avid hunter and bow hunter; and he excelled in archery competitions. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Deanne Marker Whittaker; son Ronald Rodeffer; brothers Chalmer Whittaker, Gerald Whittaker, Jack Whittaker, Donald Whittaker and one infant brother; and sisters Marie Garbig, Elnora Marshall, Emma Frederick and Dorothy Sullenbarger. He is survived by his daughter Robin (John) Hess; daughter Cathy Robison; son Rusty (Rose) Whittaker; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Vera Marshall, Nola Coning; sister-in-law Sandra Marker; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 1:30 pm until time of funeral service at 3:00 pm at the Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 226 West Main St., Eaton, OH.
