James L. Wynkoop, age 97, of Eaton, OH passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, OH. James was born on Monday, September 13, 1926 to Charles and Marie Wynkoop in Eldorado, OH, later to be adopted by Edgar Wynkoop and his wife Gladys. James was a 1944 graduate of Monroe High School; and enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp on June 27, 1944. He was honorably discharged in January of 1947. He and Marjorie Jo Woolf were married January 24, 1948. To them were born three children: Wayne Leon, Mary Jo and Anna Marie. James Remarried to Iona Caplinger Notoras on November 11, 1989. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Marjorie Jo Wynkoop and second wife Iona Wynkoop. He is survived by his son Wayne (Melissa) Wynkoop; daughters Mary Jo (John) Waite, Anna Marie (Michael) Hawkey, Beverly (Bill) Swihart, Sharon (Jim) Shute and Rhonda Pennington; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; half-sisters Betty Hulse and Nancy Daughty; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 2:00 pm until time of funeral Service at 3:00 pm at the Gard Funeral Home, 226 W. Main Street, Eaton, OH with Pastor Shawn Wilges officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton, OH.
