Janice Watt

October 22, 1946 — September 30, 2024

West Alexandria, OH

Janice M. Watt, age 77, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 30, 2024. She was born October 22, 1946 in Hamilton, OH to the late Charles and Lena (Hayes) Lipscomb. Janice was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. Janice had several jobs over her lifetime to include the Parker Hannifin credit union, Germantown National Bank, Weber’s Body and Frame and the Preble County Council on Aging. Each job gave her an opportunity to meet people and make new friends. Janice was known for her cheerful and humorous personality. While a bit introverted, she did like to be the life of the party by telling jokes or planning games. Over the years, Janice was active in Hooked on Ornaments (Hallmark Keepsake Club) and Miami Valley Water Garden Society. Janice had a passion for decorating the house and making a special dessert for EVERY holiday. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. While her husband Bob was known for his light display outside, inside she decorated 7 Christmas trees each with its own theme and the rooms to match. Besides decorating, her solace was found in flowers and gardening. She would keep meticulous records of the flowers she planted each year to make improvements the following year. Even this summer she was proud to have over 30 flowerpots on the deck and around the house. In her quiet times, Janice would sit on the deck with her binoculars and listen to the birds. Each year she looked forward to the Baltimore Orioles’ return. To make sure she had her feeders out in time, she kept Wild Birds Unlimited on speed dial to get updates. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Watt, brother William Cole, sister Betty Harrison, and nieces Kathy Harrison and Terri Kraft. Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her two sons, Jeff (Megan) of Liberty, Missouri and Brian (Amy) of Brookville, Ohio. Four beloved grandchildren; Jessica (Bret) Bierle of Kansas City, Missouri and Rob of Liberty, Missouri, and Andrew and Emma of Brookville, Ohio; special nephew, Dan Harrison of Arizona, brother Kenny (Ruby) Lipscomb of Eaton along with many other beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH. Funeral service for Janice will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton.
