Joan Mowry

Joan Mowry, age 78, of Greenville, OH passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 6, 2023.  She was born October 31, 1944 in Hamilton, OH to the late Leonard and Marjorie Beard.  She attended Eaton High School; and worked at Veronica’s Tot’s to Teens in Eaton, Kemper Cabinets in Richmond, Fram Corporation in Greenville and Wayne Hospital also in Greenville.  Joan was a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to all she met.  She was a selfless caring person who performed countless acts of kindness to many.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ron Mowry; son Russell Anthony Atkinson Jr.; grandson Russell A. “Rusty” Atkinson III; sister Jean Turner; and former husband Russell A. Atkinson, Sr.  She is survived by her sons Joseph (Deborah) Atkinson of Lebanon, OH and Timothy (Kaylene) Atkinson of McClure, OH; daughter Marletta “Marti” Brooks (Paul Blankenship) of Dayton, OH; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister Sue Johnson of Oregon; brother Leonard (Karen) Beard Liberty, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 12:00 pm until time of funeral service at 1:00 pm at Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton.
