Joann Campbell Jones, age 91, of Preble County, OH, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at home with her loving partner and family by her side. She was born January 24, 1932 on the family “Home Farms” where she lived her entire life. She was the daughter of the late Russell S. and Thelma Irene (Crist) Campbell. As a young adult, Joann was selected to be a delegate to the International Farm Youth Exchange, ultimately publishing a book about her experience working on four farms in Finland. Joann and her late former husband Lewis Jones grew their family to include 12 children- 7 adopted and 5 biological. After having two developmentally disabled children, they opened their home to many foster children as well. Among her many accomplishments, Joann was instrumental in establishing educational training programs for developmentally disabled children and adults in Preble County. She loved farming, nature, and being of service, even stopping along the road to pick up trash. Joann was generous, hard-working, strong-willed, and loved her family above all else.
In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her sons Timothy, Jamie, Thomas, Joseph, Mark Jones, and Anthoney Jones Cadwalleder; brother Byron Campbell; sister Nancy Jane Campbell; and son-in-law Paul Mullinix. Joann is survived by her longtime companion Bev Brubaker; children: Kimberly Tufts, Tamara Mullinix, Jennifer (Elisa Malin) Jones, Julie (Paul) Ossmann, Jessica Jones, and Jacqueline (Brian) Wright; daughter-in-law Connie Allison-Jones; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 11:00 am until the funeral service at 1:00 pm at the Sugar Valley United Methodist Church, 3022 Sugar Valley Dr, Eaton, OH 45320 with Pastor Gerald Sadai officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton. Gard Funeral Home, Eaton is assisting with arrangements.
