Joel D. DeVilbiss, age 90, of West Alexandria, OH passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. Joel was born on October 22, 1934, in Brookville, OH to the late Ector Ford and Ruth DeVilbiss. Joel graduated in 1952 from Brookville High School and was a lifelong member of the VFW of Brookville and the American Legion Post #322 of West Alexandria. He served in the United States Navy for three years out of high school. Joel married the love of his life, Annie Rutherford DeVilbiss, on September 28, 1957. He was a “jack-of-all-trades”, being a talented woodworker, stonemason, and overall handyman. In addition to his parents, Joel was preceded in death by five brothers and seven sisters; and daughter-in-law Rebekah DeVilbiss. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Annie DeVilbiss; son Jerry DeVilbiss; son Jeff DeVilbiss; daughter Jodi Hines; grandchildren Zach DeVilbiss, Jenna DeVilbiss, Hannah (Nate) Gevedon, Wyatt DeVilbiss, Samantha (Ricky) Johnson, Jacob Hines, and Joel Hines; great-grandchildren Rayven DeVilbiss, Donovan DeVilbiss, Bryson McAdams, Addaline Gevedon and Aiden Gevedon; brothers Don DeVilbiss and Larry DeVilbiss; brothers-in-law Bill Rutherford and Jim Ferriell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton. Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, OH is assisting with arrangements.
