Joel F. Wassom, age 80, of West Manchester, OH passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. He was born April 8, 1941 in Dekalb, IL to the late Jarvis Pleasant and Lola Lee Wassom. Joel was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, brother and doting papa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a 1959 graduate of Monroe High School where he kept many life-long friendships. He was an active member of the Solid Rock Apostolic Church in Bradford, OH. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister Judy Fuller. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Marlow Wassom; sons Jeff (Cindy) Wassom, Mark (Rhonda) Wassom, Chad (Beth) Wassom and Tony (Marie) Wassom; grandchildren: Emily (Alex) Buffler, Eli (Savannah) Wassom, Elaina (Nick) Harrist, Olivia (Devin) Ponder, Grant (Kirby) Wassom, Wyatt Wassom, Dakota Eggleston, Adrianna (Brandon) Lavey, Andrew (Amber) Wassom and Tully Wassom; great grandchildren: Benjen, Hank, Everett, Jackson, Adelynn and Dax; brother Jerry (Patti) Wassom; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 9:00 am until time of funeral service at 10:30 am at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH with Pastor Matthew O’Shell officiating.
