John E. Maggard

John E. Maggard, age 81, of West Alexandria, OH passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH.  He was born June 16, 1942 in Dayton to the late John H. and Beulah Maggard.  John was a 1960 graduate of Northridge High School; was a U.S Air Force Veteran and member of the American Legion Post #322, West Alexandria; he retired as a District Manager from Western & Southern Life Insurance Company; was an active volunteer with the West Alexandria Baseball Organization and Twin Valley South Chain Gang; was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in West Alexandria; and was an avid euchre player winning many tournaments with his father.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepdaughter Tina Banks.  He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Maggard; daughters Tina (Jeff) Rivers, Leah (Dennis) Cole and Deana (Brett) Maggard; son Dean (Vanna) Maggard; stepdaughter Joni Barker; grandchildren Drew (Jess), Kaelee (Brett), Jared (Madison), Zoie, Austin (Lindsey), Wesley (Mariah), Shelley (Scott), Dustin, Kyler (Alyssa), Kelsie, Kali, Elizabeth, Sarah (Kyle) and Brandon; great grandchildren Kasen, Kooper, Kaiser, Forest, Brynlee, Ely, Nash, Anna, Lyla, Dustin, Elaina and Lincoln; and beloved dog Bella.  Visitation will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 2:00 pm until time of funeral service at 4:00 pm at the Calvary Baptist Church, 14 Dorsey Akers Drive, West Alexandria, OH with Pastor David Spears officiating.  Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in West Alexandria.  Gard Funeral Home, West Alexandria is assisting with arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be sent to Davita Eaton Dialysis, 105 E Washington Jackson Rd, Eaton, OH 45320.  Online condolences and other remembrances may be sent to the family by visiting www.gardfuneralhome.com.
