John W. Mowen

John W. Mowen, age 83 of West Alexandria, OH, passed away suddenly Thursday, December 15, 2011. He was born December 25, 1927 in Farmersville, OH to the late Eli and Lillian Mowen. He was a lifelong farmer and avid hunter. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Virginia Lee (Moses) Mowen, who passed away August 22, 2011; brothers Paul, Marvin, George and Lawrence “Bud” Mowen; and sisters Clara Rawlins and Louise Moses. He is survived by his son Roy Mowen and his wife Lora of West Alexandria, OH; daughter Debbie Potter and her husband Rick of Eaton, OH; 3 grandchildren, Jenny (Potter) Sutton, Amy Potter and Lee Mowen; 3 great grandchildren, Ethan and John Sutton and Austin Gandolfo; and brother Charlie “Catfish” Mowen. Friends will be received from 5:00 P.M. until time of memorial service at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH with Rev. Cathy Royer officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Farmersville Fire & Rescue.
