John M. Paxson

John M. Paxson, age 52, of Eaton, OH, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Heartland of Eaton. He was born February 15, 1964 in Dayton, OH to Larry and Janet (Geeting) Paxson. John was a 1983 graduate of Eaton High School where he was known for sweeping the gym floor and sitting with the basketball team for many years; he was employed at the Preble County YMCA; and was an avid sports fan. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Claude and Ruth Paxson and his maternal grandparents J. Albert and Lucille Geeting. He is survived by his parents Larry and Janet Paxson of Eaton, OH; sisters Celeste Phelps of Richmond, IN and Christine (Shawn) Cheek of Indianapolis, IN; nieces and nephews: Nicole (Jay) Sherry, Derrick Phelps, Stephanie Cheek, Gregory Cheek and McKenzie Cheek; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH with Pastor Jonathan Grubbs officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Eaton, OH. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm and one hour prior to services on Monday all at the funeral home.
