John Lee VanHook, age 79, of New Paris, OH passed away suddenly on
Sunday, August 8, 2021 at home. He was born December 3, 1941 in Dayton, OH to the late John and Bonnie VanHook. He built a life with his wife Beverly (Fouts) VanHook for 21 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters. He is survived by his wife Beverly (Fouts) VanHook of New Paris, OH; sons Matthew R. (Sherry) Klontz and Timothy W. (Susan) Klontz; Eight grandchildren Tony, Jennifer, Nicolas, Elizabeth, Cody, Daniel, Jillian, Michael; Ten great grandchildren and two brothers-in-law. His special poodle “Emme” will miss him dearly. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and especially his large church family. John was a proud U.S. Marine Corp Veteran. He loved building and was instrumental in helping build his church. He enjoyed working with his hands, gardening and riding his Harley with his wife. He belonged to a camping club and enjoyed meeting new friends on their adventures. He loved his family most of all and that included his family at church. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 10:30 am until time of funeral service at 11:30 am at the Eldorado Baptist Church in Eldorado, OH with Pastor Scott Moler officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery Eaton, OH. Girton Schimdt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, OH is assisting with arrangements.
