Kenneth Dean Lindsey, age 89, of Eaton, OH passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025 at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born July 5, 1935 in Preble County to the late John T. Sr and Ruth (Spradling) Lindsey. Ken graduated from Dixon High School in 1953; served in the United States Army; was a lifetime member of The Church at Sugar Valley, where he served as Treasurer and Chairman of the Administrative Council in addition to helping wherever needed. Ken worked at NCR Dayton, OH for 36 ½ years before retiring. After retirement he worked part-time at the Eaton Country Club and Gard Funeral Home. Ken was a passionate golfer and bowler, finding joy in both sports. He also loved singing, whether in the church choir, Eaton Community Choir or with the Jewell Family Singers. A dedicated fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Ken cheered them on with enthusiasm and had a deep appreciation for all sports, stemming from his own experience playing basketball and baseball in high school. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Lillian E. Whitesell, Lois Buck and Caryl Thomas; and brothers Willis J. Lindsey and John Thomas "Jack" Lindsey, Jr. He is survived by his wife Virginia Jewell Lindsey of Eaton; daughter Kathy (husband Michael) Lawson of Raleigh, NC; son Doug Lindsey of Eaton; grandchildren Kristi Taylor Rogers (husband Neil) Colorado Springs, CO, Brian Taylor Dayton, OH, Evan Lawson Westerville, OH, Cody Lindsey Germantown, OH and Ronnie Lindsey Kettering, OH; great-grandchildren: Judah, Ezra, Luka, Aviana Rogers, Kyle, Theo Lindsey; brother Eugene Lindsey (wife Rosa Jean) Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces and nephews and their children. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 11:00 am until time of funeral service at 1:00 pm at The Church at Sugar Valley, 3022 Camden Sugar Valley Road, Eaton, OH 45320 with Pastor Gerald Sadai officiating. Burial will follow at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery in West Alexandria, OH. Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Eaton, OH is assisting the family with arrangements.
