Larry A. Izor, age 77, of West Alexandria, OH, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Vancrest Nursing Center, Eaton, OH. He was born April 4, 1937 in Montgomery County, OH to the late Robert E. and Kathryn L. (Suggs) Izor. He was a 1955 graduate of Lanier High School. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Ingomar. He was a longtime contributor and volunteer to the Preble County 4-H Horse Club. Larry was past president of the Ohio Half Arabian Horse Association and the Ohio Valley Arabian Horse Association. He was recognized numerous times for his volunteer efforts locally, regionally and nationally in the Arabian horse world. He was a familiar face at many regional horse shows, where he and Shirley often managed the horse stabling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Eldon Eugene Izor and Ronald Lyle Izor. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley J. Izor of West Alexandria, OH; sister Karen J. (Bill) Bliss of West Alexandria, OH; brother-in-law Jim (Jackie) Sorah of Troy, OH; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews; and a host of special friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH with Pastor Laura Cavendish officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria, OH. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
