Lawrence H. Hempel

Lawrence H. “Larry” Hempel, age 82, of Eaton, OH passed away Friday, March 17, 2023.  He was born September 17, 1940 in Detroit, MI to the late Frederick R. And Lavelle Ethel (Gray) Hempel.  He was a gun collector and member of the National Riflemen’s Association.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Hempel; and daughters Judy Smith and Janette Hart.  He is survived by his sons David and Mark Lewis; brother Conrad Hempel; and grandchildren Sean Smith, Vincent Lewis, Samuel Lewis and Rachel Lewis.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Mound Hill Cemetery (New Side) in Eaton, OH.  Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, OH is assisting with arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be sent to the Humane Society of Preble County.  Online condolences and other remembrances may be sent to the family by visiting www.gardfuneralhome.com.
