Leonard A. Duke

Leonard A. Duke, age 92, of West Manchester, OH, passed away Friday, March 30, 2018 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN. He was born March 9, 1926 in Preble County to the late Morten A. “Morey” and Grace (Mt.Castle) Duke. Leonard was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran who served in WWII. He was a longtime Preble County farmer; was a farm machinery mechanic; and retired from Dayton Tire and Rubber in 1969. He was also an avid builder of tow trailers and wagons. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Letha Duke in 1998; son Lynn Duke in 2004; sisters Zelpha Brant-Albert, Dola Mowery, Lorene Ashbaugh and Viola Johnson; and brothers Russel and Ray Duke. He is survived by his grandchildren Melissa (Brian) Duke Jones of Lewisburg; Lyle Duke of West Manchester and Lynsey Duke of Richmond; great grandchildren Bryten Jones, Makenna Jones and Lexi Duke; significant other Ellen; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 6, 2018 at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton with Skip Padgett officiating. Burial will follow at Wares Chapel Cemetery in West Manchester. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and one hour prior to services on Friday all at the funeral home.
