Lewis E. Jones, age 91, of Eaton, OH, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022 at his residence. He was born August 16, 1931 in Mt. Carmel, IN to the late Irvin and Amy Jones. He was a supervisor for Preble County Soil and Water Conservation District for 25 years; worked for the Farm Extension Office in Preble County; was a longtime Preble County farmer; and was instrumental in the start of the Preble County Board of Mental Retardation and L& M Products. Lewis was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church where he sang in the church choir; and was also a member of the Eaton Community Choir. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons Timothy, Jamie, Thomas, Joseph and Mark and Anthoney Jones; second wife Shirley Gallimore Jones; and son-in-law Paul Mullinix. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Margaret Jones; children: Kimberly Tufts, Tamara Mullinix, Jennifer (Elisa Malin) Jones, Julie (Paul) Ossmann, Jessica Jones and Jacqueline (Brian) Wright; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; step-children: Michael Craft, Karen (Jeff) Kerns and the Gallimore children and family; brothers John Jones and Dwight Jones; sisters Jody (Don) Clark and Shirley (Rod) Earhart; many foster children; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon at the First Southern Baptist Church, 35 N. Liberty Street, Camden, OH 45311 with Pastor Greg Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Darrtown Cemetery. Gard Funeral Home, Eaton is assisting with arrangements.
