Marie McGinnis

Marie McGinnis, age 86, of Eaton, OH passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Vancrest of Eaton Health Care Center.  She was born June 5, 1936 in Troy, AL to the late Zebedee and Myra Ann Hampton.  She worked at Baxter Company in Eaton for 25 years; was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eaton; was an amazing cook; and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting and making crafts.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Eugene M. “Gene” McGinnis; and sisters Mary Jewell Hall and Vivian McDonald.  She is survived by eight nieces: Brenda Hall of Syracuse, NY, Chaplain Judy (Pastor Anthony) Nicholson of Indianapolis, IN, Lady Alice (Pastor James) Suddith of Troy, AL, Marylin (Anthony) Walker of Bloomington, IN, Sandra Hall of Alpharetta, GA , Debbie (Jimmy) Childress of Indian Land SC, Chris (Demetrius) Robertson of Waldorf, MD and Marcia McDonald of Portsmouth, VA; one nephew: Glenn (Doris) McDonald of Sulfolk, VA; 18 great nieces and nephews; several great great nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law: Cora McGinnis of New Hampshire, Ruth Revere and Norma Joyce Smitherman both of Miamisburg, OH; and a host of other family and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 1:00 pm at the Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH with Pastor Andrew Stensaas officiating (Due to construction please use the Park Avenue or West Entrance).  Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton.  Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society.  Online condolence and other remembrances may be sent by visiting www.gardfuneralhome.com.
