Martha M. Beasley, age 96, of Eaton, OH passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Vancrest of Eaton. She was born January 9, 1922 in Preble County to the late Everitt and Mary (Shade) Smith. She was a lifelong resident of this community. Martha was a 1940 graduate of Lanier High School, and a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Eaton. She worked for 25 years at East Elementary and Bruce School for the Eaton Community Schools. She resided with her husband Kenny (caretaker) at Fort St. Clair Park for over 25 years. She loved her shelties, playing cards and dominoes, and baking and cooking. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Kenneth M. Beasley, whom she married on December 29, 1943 and passed away in May of 1999; son Donald, who passed away in 1946; sisters Virgie Nieman and Ruth Wehrley; brother and sister-in-law Chester and Janet Smith; and her special little four-legged dog “Sunny”. She is survived by her daughter and husband: Linda and Jerry Brown of Eaton; granddaughter and husband: Renee and Aaron Kerr of Eaton; numerous nieces and nephews; and longtime family friend Phyllis Mikesell of Eldorado. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 2:00 pm until time of funeral service at 3:00 pm at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, with Pastor Dean Haferman officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery (old section) in Eaton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 111, Lutheran Drive, Eaton, OH 45320.
